Welcome

SBC is a friendly, welcoming church situated on the outskirts of the village along the A268 Rye Road, often referred to by locals and those passing through as "The Church with the Sign" due to the ever-changing display board placed at the roadside.

The original building dates back to 1731 when the Baptists re-located from a site just about a mile to the south. The present chapel was erected in 1853 and the Sunday School in 1899.

The congregation comprises all age groups with several members of the fellowship being first generation Christians.  The preaching of the Gospel is prized highly and there is a keen interest in missionary work at home and overseas.  The church has a music group who lead the congregation in traditional and contemporary hymns and songs.  There is a growing children's and young people's work.
